The Houston one year old space design
The birthday child's shirt opens with Houston, written in a loose white script with a comma at the end, followed by WE HAVE A in small white serif capitals. Below that comes the biggest part of the design: ONE, with the O painted as a watercolor planet in deep blue, teal and green, patched with silver, and the N and E in a textured silver serif that catches the light like foil. YEAR OLD finishes the sentence in aqua capitals, so the whole shirt says Houston, we have a one year old.
Nine watercolor planets ring the words. The top left planet wears a silver ring, the bottom left one a gold ring, and the others come in misty blue, pale moon gray, lavender with gold leaf and seafoam green. Silver stars cluster along the edges like a little galaxy, with a few gold stars mixed in.
Family shirts keep every planet and the silver ONE but swap the top line for a title in the same white script, followed by OF A in aqua, so Mom wears Mommy of a ONE YEAR OLD and Grandpa wears Grandpa of a ONE YEAR OLD. The colors lean cool and calm, which makes the design an easy pick for a boy or a girl.
Matching space shirts for every age
The planets come in four styles:
- Houston one year old space adult shirts come in unisex XS through 4X and suit both parents, all four grandparents, and every aunt, uncle and godparent.
- Houston one year old space kids shirts, youth S to XL, sized for the older brothers, sisters and cousins.
- Houston one year old space toddler shirts, 2T to 5T, for siblings in toddler sizes or a birthday child who has outgrown baby clothes.
- The Houston one year old space baby bodysuit covers newborn through 24 months, joined by a baby tee version from 6 months, for the birthday baby and any baby cousins.
The Name menu lists 24 family titles, from Mama and Dada to Mimi, Pop Pop, Tio and Godmother, and the birthday child has the Houston We Have A option. If your family says Great Grandpa or Uncle Ray, type it into Custom family name.
Planning a Houston space first birthday
A space party gives a one-year-old plenty to look at: shiny balloons, twinkling lights and a cake that looks like the moon. Pair the Houston line with a mission control theme, or blend it with the popular first trip around the sun idea, since both celebrate a baby's first full orbit. Hang silver star garlands and paper planets from the ceiling, cluster navy, silver and aqua balloons by the cake table, and set out a cardboard rocket the toddlers can climb into.
For food, a navy or black cake with silver stars and a tiny astronaut on top fits the shirts, or try a round white smash cake decorated as a full moon. Star-shaped sandwiches, moon pies, a tray of galaxy candy bars, blueberry and grape planets on skewers and a popcorn bar make an easy menu. Guests can take home a glow stick or a small bag of freeze-dried astronaut ice cream.
For photos, dim the lights a little and hang fairy lights behind the cake table so the silver lettering sparkles. A sign that reads Houston, we have a one year old, in the same white script, ties the room back to the shirts.
What the family wears to the space party
The shirts bring the stars, so keep the rest relaxed. Grown-ups look great in jeans or gray joggers with white sneakers, and a silver or denim jacket for an evening party. Big brothers can wear cargo pants and light-up sneakers, and big sisters a silver tulle skirt or star leggings.
For the birthday baby, pair the bodysuit with gray pants, star socks and a soft astronaut hat for the cake smash, then switch to the baby tee for opening gifts once the frosting is washed off. Ask guests to come in navy, silver, black or aqua so the whole room matches the planets.
After the party, the shirts get plenty of wear. Dad wears his to the science museum, the big kids wear theirs to school on space day, and the bodysuit makes a lovely keepsake beside the first birthday candle and a moon-shaped card signed by every guest.
Sizing for the whole family
The final photo on every shirt shows its size chart, measured in inches. Adult tees fit loose and unisex, which means most adults stay with what they normally wear, go one size smaller for a trimmer look, or one larger for a loose one. Around the first birthday, the common baby sizes are 12 and 18 months; lay a bodysuit that fits now on the chart and choose the larger size if the baby falls between two.
Ordering for a big family
Everyone's shirts go into one cart: pick a name and size, add it, then do the same for each person on your list. The family savings come off automatically at checkout, and all apparel in your cart is included.
Each order spends 2 to 5 business days at the printer. Standard ground shipping then carries it to your door in 3 to 5 business days. Leaving two weeks before the celebration gives plenty of room. Need them by a certain date? Send a request and we'll try to help.
