The cute monster design
The words are pumpkin orange from top to bottom. On the birthday boy's shirt, I'M THE sits in small serif capitals and Spooky One sweeps underneath in a loose, energetic script with long tails on the S and the y. Around it the monsters are painted in soft watercolor. A tiny bandaged mummy peeks out on the left, a little Frankenstein with a flat-top and an orange knit sweater stands on the right, and a round black cat curls at the bottom next to a jack-o'-lantern. A gray bat flaps in the top corner beside a crescent moon, a smiling ghost floats on the right, a second jack-o'-lantern hides near the top, a spider dangles from a thread, and orange autumn leaves, gray stars and little sprigs fill the spaces between.
Family shirts lead with a title in a big orange script, then OF THE in small capitals and Spooky One, so the grown-ups wear Mama OF THE Spooky One, Dada OF THE Spooky One or Nana OF THE Spooky One, and the kids wear Brother or Cousin OF THE Spooky One. Every character is smiling, so the look is fun rather than scary.
An October baby means a costume and a cake in the same week. These shirts give the party a theme without asking a one-year-old to wear a costume, and they come back out for trick-or-treating.
Cute monster Spooky One shirts for every age
The monsters come four ways:
- Adult monster Spooky One tees in unisex XS to 4X, for Mama, Dada, both sets of grandparents and the aunts, uncles and godparents.
- Kids monster Spooky One tees, youth S to XL, made for older brothers, sisters and school-age cousins.
- Toddler monster Spooky One tees in 2T to 5T, for the youngest siblings and for a birthday boy in toddler sizes.
- The monster Spooky One baby bodysuit, newborn and up, along with a baby tee, for him and any baby cousins.
There are 24 family titles to pick, among them Mommy, Daddy, Mimi, Nanny, Tio and Godfather, plus I'm The Spooky One for the birthday boy. For anyone else, say Great Grandma or Lita, type the name in Custom family name.
Planning a little monster Spooky One bash
A monster first birthday works best when it is silly, not scary, and the shirts set that tone. Stick to orange, black and gray with a touch of green. Hang paper bats and a few cardboard monster faces on the wall behind the cake table, set jack-o'-lanterns with battery candles along the floor, and use orange and black balloons with googly eyes stuck on for instant little monsters. A sign that says Our Little Monster is One or Spooky One makes the cake table a natural photo spot.
For food, try monster cupcakes with green frosting and candy eyes, mummy hot dogs, clementines peeled to look like pumpkins, a black cat cake pop or two and an orange smash cake with a little jack-o'-lantern face. Small treat bags tied with orange ribbon make easy favors.
For activities, set out a sticker station where kids decorate paper jack-o'-lanterns, a gentle monster freeze dance and a costume parade for any child who comes dressed up. A cozy corner with a few Halloween board books is perfect for the toddlers.
What the family can wear
Grown-ups look relaxed in their titled tees with jeans and an orange or black flannel worn open, and grandparents with a cozy cardigan. Big kids can wear theirs on their own or under a costume. Dress the birthday boy in the bodysuit with black or orange leggings and a little pumpkin hat for the cake smash; later he can switch to the baby tee and joggers.
Invite guests to wear orange, black or gray, or to come in costume, and the photos will look like a storybook Halloween.
A quick sizing guide
Every shirt ends with a photo of its chart in inches. Adult tees are relaxed and unisex: pick your usual size, or one up to wear over a long sleeve on a cold October night. Babies at one mostly wear 12 or 18 months, and our Rabbit Skins bodysuits tend to run roomy.
Ordering for a big family
Every family member can be ordered in one go. Pick the first shirt, then repeat for each person with their own name and size until the whole crew is in the cart; the family savings, based on all apparel in your cart, appear at checkout.
Allow 2 to 5 business days of printing time after you order. Next comes the trip by standard ground shipping, roughly 3 to 5 business days. With Halloween orders peaking in October, try to order two weeks ahead. Need them by a certain date? Send a request and we'll try to help.
Our Halloween birthday shirts and Halloween birthday shirts hold the other October sets, and every other theme is listed under birthday family shirts.
