The blue cookies and cocoa design
The gingerbread cookie is the star: a round, smiling cookie with rosy cheeks, iced swirls on its arms and a pale blue cable-knit hat with a fluffy pom-pom. It sits in a dusty blue mug decorated with white snowflakes, the cocoa heaped with speckled marshmallows and two curls of steam drifting up on either side. Pastel snowflakes in peach, light blue and lavender float around the whole picture.
Below the mug, COOKIES & COCOA is set in tall, narrow, hand-drawn brown letters with a little ampersand between them. That is the birthday child's shirt. Everyone else's adds a title underneath in big soft blue capitals of the same style, so the shirts read COOKIES & COCOA MAMA, COOKIES & COCOA DADDY and COOKIES & COCOA BROTHER.
Since there is no number anywhere on the design, it is a good fit for a first, a third or a seventh winter birthday, and for siblings to wear again at a cocoa night later in the season.
Cookies and cocoa shirts for every age
The gingerbread mug comes on four kinds of shirt:
- Blue cookies and cocoa adult shirts, cut unisex from XS up to 4X, for Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa and the rest of the grown-ups, and for an older birthday child too.
- Blue cookies and cocoa kids shirts in youth S to XL, for school-age brothers, sisters and cousins.
- Blue cookies and cocoa toddler shirts in 2T to 5T, for a toddler birthday child and toddler siblings.
- The blue cookies and cocoa baby bodysuit and baby tee, newborn to 24 months, for a birthday baby and the other little ones.
Choose from 24 family titles, Mommy, Dada, Gigi, Nanny, Tio and Godmother among them, plus Cookies & Cocoa for the birthday child. Great Grandpa, Lolo or any title not on the menu goes in Custom family name.
Planning a cookies and cocoa birthday party
A hot cocoa party is one of the easiest winter birthdays to throw. Set up a cocoa bar with a big pot or slow cooker of hot chocolate, jars of marshmallows, whipped cream, peppermint pieces, sprinkles and chocolate chips, and let guests build their own mug. Add a gingerbread decorating station with plain cookies, tubes of icing and candies, and the kids will stay busy for an hour.
For decorations, borrow the shirts' colors: dusty blue, cream, cocoa brown and pastel snowflakes. Paper snowflakes on the windows, a blue and white balloon garland, mismatched mugs as centerpieces and a sign reading Cookies and Cocoa make the room feel finished. A simple white cake with snowflake sprinkles and a gingerbread cookie on top ties it all together.
Pajama parties suit this theme too: ask everyone to come in cozy socks, put on a winter movie and serve cocoa in to-go cups at the end. For favors, fill small cellophane bags with cocoa mix, a handful of mini marshmallows and a peppermint stick, tie them with blue ribbon and add a tag with the birthday child's name. Guests take home a cup of the party, and the bags look sweet lined up on the table by the door.
What the family can wear
Parents and grandparents look comfortable in their titled tees over jeans, with a cardigan or cozy flannel, and the kids with soft joggers or leggings. For a pajama-style party, flannel pajama pants under the shirts look adorable in group photos. A baby can wear the bodysuit with blue or cream leggings and a little knit hat. If the birthday child is older, the adult XS tee often fits a tween well, so the guest of honor can still wear Cookies & Cocoa.
Guests can be invited to wear blue, cream or brown, so everyone looks warm and wintry together. For photos, line the family up on the couch with mugs in hand and a plate of gingerbread cookies on the coffee table; it looks like a holiday card and takes two minutes to set up.
Finding sizes
The final photo on each shirt is its size chart, measured in inches. Adult tees are relaxed and unisex, so most people order their usual size; size down for a closer fit or up to layer over a long sleeve. For a baby or toddler, compare a shirt that fits now with the chart, and choose the bigger size if they are between two, since little ones grow fast.
Ordering for a big family
Order everyone's shirts together: add one shirt, then set up the next one with a new name and size and add that too. The family savings are figured on all apparel in your cart and taken off at checkout.
Allow 2 to 5 business days for printing. Shipping comes next, standard ground, at roughly 3 to 5 business days, so two weeks of lead time works, with a little extra in December. Those are business days, so weekends and holidays add to the wait. Need them by a certain date? Send a request and we'll try to help.
